L&T IDPL gets Rs. 4800 crore NHAI projects

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has awarded L&T Infrastructure Development Projects Limited (L&T IDPL) a 4800 crore contract to develop two road sections of a total length of 484km from the existing two lane to a four-lane configuration. The two sections are a part of NH 6, which passes through mineral rich states like Orissa and Chattisgarh and industrial states like Maharashtra and Gujarat, and connects Surat to Kolkata. The highway is a prominent East-West connectivity provider, and is also called the Great Eastern Road. The projects also involve building other facilities such as flyovers, bypasses, over bridges across level crossings, underpasses and toll plazas. A total of 31 major bridges, 255 minor bridges, 40 vehicular underpasses, 12 rail over bridges and 29 passenger underpasses will be constructed in the course of the projects.
