Awareness drive on e-payment

A sensitization programme on cashless payment at RTOs organized by the road transport officials in Madurai city was attended by a good number of people.

So far, the e-payment was provided as an option to pay fee for various services. Starting from the new year, payment is accepted online only. It applies for all services including application for licences, permits, fitness certificates for vehicles and ownership transfers. Officials said that public can make use of the online payment, which would be available 24 hours a day. One should walk into the RTOs with the receipts to get the works done.

The new initiative will enhance the transparency in the services offered by the officials. RTOs from Madurai Central, North and South took part in the sensitization program. People from all walks of life including the representatives of the Private Route Bus Association, Omni Buses Association, Tourist Bus Association, Maxi Cab Owners Association, Auto Rickshaw Associations also took part.
