Bangalore contest to reward traffic policemen

The Bangalore traffic police has organised a contest, “Unsung Heroes at the Traffic Signals” in which commuters and travellers can nominate a traffic constable or head constable for commendable service. It hopes to motivate and award public recognition of deserving police officers, whose work often goes unnoticed, through the contest. The event will jointly be conducted by the World Peacekeepers Movement, the Political Action Committee (B-PAC) and the Bangalore Traffic Police Department. Traffic police personnel would be short-listed after they are nominated by the public and their track records scrutinised. The awards will be presented in July this year. People can call or send an SMS the Bangalore Police, or log on to facebook and explain why a particular policeman should be given the award.
