The other highlight of the second day was the seminars on two topics that are of crucial importance to India?s traffic industry. Both the sessions provided a unique platform for traffic experts as well as system providers to interact and share knowledge.
The seminar on Bus Rapid Transit Systems (BRTS) in the morning saw presence of eminent speakers like Prof. Shivanand Swamy, Executive Director, Centre for Excellence in Urban Transport, CEPT University, Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra, Municipal Commissioner, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Chandramauli Shukla, Chief Executive Officer, Bhopal City Link Limited (Bhopal BRTS), Raj Kumar Singh, Director (UT-1), Ministry of Urban Development, N C Mathur, Director, Engineering, Jaipur Development Authority and Laghu Parashar, Senior Manager, UMTA. The speakers gave an overview of the current BRTS projects completed and underway across India and made in-depth presentations on the varied challenges and solutions available in the segment. The panel discussion among the speakers was followed by an interactive session between the panelists and the audience.
The afternoon session on Intelligent Transportation System was chaired by Anil Shukla, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Delhi. Distinguished professional like Dr. Ravi Kumar, Joint Director, CDAC and Lidia Savali Mena, Business Development Director (Traffic and Transport), Indra Sistemas India Pvt Ltd and Vivekanand, Director ? Sales, Barco Electronic Systems (P) Ltd made insightful presentations on various systems and solutions available in the segment and their efficient implementation with respect to Indian conditions. The attending delegates included infrastructure companies, parking and traffic management organizations and enforcement authorities from across the country who then interacted with speakers after the seminar.
