BRTS in Karnataka

The Karnataka State Government has decided to provide a dedicated lane for buses as part of the proposed Rapid Bus Transport System in Bangalore, Mysore and Hubli-Dharwad. In Bangalore, the dedicated bus track will initially be for a distance of 30km between Hebbal and Hosur Road (Central Silk Board Junction), all along the Outer Ring Road. The bus track will be the central lane, and if needed, the road will be widened wherever required. This project is expected to cost र550 crore, and funds will also be sought from the Union Government. In Mysore, the dedicated bus track will be 160km long, while in Hubli-Dharwad it will cover 31km. All these roads will be signal free and the buses will halt only at the earmarked stops.
