MMRDA gets ? 4,028 crore for 2013-14

The Maharashtra government has approved a ? 4,028 crore budget for MMRDA for 2013-14. The budget has allocated ? 600 crore for the Extended Mumbai Urban Infrastructure Project including construction of six flyovers, completion of the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road, foot over bridges, service roads and beautification of spaces under the flyovers, the resettlement of? Tilak Nagar residents over 90km of roads in Thane, Kalyan & adjoining areas, a creek-bridge at Vasai and feasibility surveys for eight new road projects. ? 608 crore have been allocated for the Metro Rail Project and another ?. 600 crore for the Monorail. Two important projects – Mumbai Trans Harbour Link and the Sewri-Worli connector have been allocated ? 150 crore and ? 517crore respectively. Three more crucial projects which have been budgeted for are the underpass at Kalanagar, Bandra and an elevated road from the commercial hub of Bandra Kurla Complex to the Eastern Express Highway and the Kherwadi flyover. ? 9,326-crore have been allocated for the 126-km long Multi-Modal corridor which will run from Virar (Navghar) to Alibaug. Besides the main traffic lanes, the corridor will have dedicated lanes for buses, two-wheelers and non-motorised transport.
