New emissions technology from Volvo CE

Volvo Construction Equipment, a leading manufacturer of road building and maintenance equipment, is all set to introduce a new low-emission technology in engines in its forthcoming Stage IV/Tier 4 final-compliant trucks. The engines use selective catalytic reduction (SCR), a diesel particulate filter (DPF) and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) in order to meet the requirements of the forthcoming Stage IV/Tier 4 Final emissions legislation. The system will have a new DPF that does not require active regeneration because particulate matter oxidisation will now occur at low exhaust temperatures during normal vehicle operation. Volvo has tested the SCR technology in more than a million trucks, articulated haulers, wheeled loaders and excavators till date, apart from engine test benches.
