Rotary International launches road safety campaign

Rotary International District 3010 has included Road Safety and Disaster Management as one of the thrust areas of its activities. As a part of its programme to create awareness on road safety, it will organise a seminar on Road Safety and Disaster Management on December 8 which is expected to be attended by about 500 people. Road Shows will be organised during the February 2013. The rotary clubs will also be encouraged to invite senior police officers and traffic experts to make presentation at the club meetings. The Delhi, Ghaziabad and Faridabad Police have agreed to work with the various rotary clubs of the district for the project. Seminars will be organised to create awareness on zonal and district level through its Rotary Youth Leadership (RYLA) and District Interact Leadership Assembly (DILA) programmes. It will also reach out to the next generation through ROTARACT & INTERACT. There will be traffic educational programmes conducted at traffic intersections with the help of Delhi Traffic Police. It will also conduct special programmes and visits to school and other educational institutions, giving out disaster kits and conducting disaster management drills. Iqbal Singh Jagdeva who has been nominated as District Director-Road Safety and Disaster Management, District 3010 for the year 2012-2013 for New Delhi ad NCR will be in charge of the project.
