SMEC wins India State Highway deal

The Australia based consulting firm SMEC has been awarded a contract for the construction, supervision and contract administration for the second stage of the Karnataka State Highway Improvement Project. There are nine separate civil work packages in the contract in which about 620km of highways will be upgraded. The upgrading work includes constructing new alignments for two-lane roads, widening other road sections and developing dual carriageways with separated median stretches. The project, which costs around $300 million, will be funded by the Asian Development Bank.
