Solar Power for Delhi Metro

dIn an attempt to reduce its dependence on traditional, non-renewable source of power the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is looking to use solar power in some of its facilities. As a part of the initiative, solar panels which will help capture solar energy to be eventually converted to electricity will be installed at the Kakarduma and Noida Sector 21 metro stations. The DMRC also plans to use solar panels at elevated Metro stations, depots and in open areas of the stations. Based on the success of these efforts, the corporation will further implement it for Phase III of the Delhi Metro project. The DMRC is also training all concerned officials and contractors and sub-contractors in environmental issues so that construction is done in an environmentally responsible manner.
