Wireless EV charging technology

Momentum Dynamics, a US based electronics company, has developed a technology to charge electric vehicles wirelessly through snow, ice and water without the use of any cables or wires. Tests conducted have shown the technology, which works on the principle of inductive charging, to work in all weather conditions. The vehicles are charged without any need of supervision. The system can transmit electrical energy wirelessly at quite high power levels through more than four inch layers of water, snow and solid ice. The operating software developed by Momentum can identify charged vehicles and also regulate the sale of power in a manner similar to that used in automatic toll collection systems. Large commercial vehicles, where rapid charging is often important, can be recharged much faster with the new system compared to plug-in chargers.
